Live Clock

Overview

The Live Clock displays both an analog clock face and a digital time readout simultaneously, with support for 12-hour and 24-hour formats. Three progress bars show how much of the current day, month, and year has elapsed — giving a visual sense of time passing.

How to Use

The clock updates automatically every half-second. Toggle between 12-hour and 24-hour format using the buttons at the top. The analog hands update smoothly with a spring easing animation. The day progress bar fills based on the current hour and minute, while the year progress bar shows what percentage of the current year has passed.

Background & Context

The 12-hour clock is used primarily in the United States, Canada, Australia, and a few other countries. The 24-hour format (military time) is standard in most of the world and in scientific, aviation, and military contexts. The analog clock face design traces back to mechanical clock towers, the earliest of which appeared in medieval Europe around the 13th century.
