Overview
The Calendar Generator renders a fully interactive monthly calendar with navigation between months. Clicking any date reveals detailed information including the day of week, week number, day of year, days remaining in the year, and whether the year is a leap year.
How to Use
The calendar opens on the current month with today highlighted. Use the arrow buttons to navigate to any month, or click “Today” to return to the present. Click any date to see a detailed info panel below the calendar. The info strip shows the total days in the current month, current week number, and days remaining in the month.
Background & Context
The Gregorian calendar has 365 days per year, with leap years (366 days) occurring in years divisible by 4, except for century years unless also divisible by 400. This means 2000 was a leap year but 1900 was not. The current 7-day week structure is at least 4,000 years old, with roots in Babylonian astronomy where the seven classical planets each governed a day.
