Date Calculator

Overview

The Date Calculator computes the difference between two dates with precision, breaking down the span into years, months, days, hours, minutes, and seconds. It also offers a business days count and a mode to add or subtract a specific number of days from any date.

How to Use

In “Between Dates” mode, pick a start and end date to see the full duration breakdown. In “Add/Subtract” mode, choose a start date and enter a number of days to go forward or backward — the result date appears instantly. Toggle “Include business days” to exclude weekends from the count.

Background & Context

The Gregorian calendar, introduced by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582, is the most widely used civil calendar today. It corrects the Julian calendar’s drift by skipping leap years on centuries not divisible by 400. The concept of counting days between dates is essential in finance (bond settlements), law (contract deadlines), medicine (gestational age), and project management.
