Overview
The Character Counter provides a real-time analysis of any text, displaying character count, word count, sentence count, paragraph count, and estimated reading time. A letter frequency bar chart shows the distribution of alphabetic characters.
How to Use
Paste or type text into the input area. All statistics update instantly as you type. The reading time estimate is calculated at 200 words per minute. The frequency chart at the bottom shows the relative frequency of each letter in your text as animated bars. A 5,000-character limit indicator is included for social media posts.

The most frequent letter in the English language is ‘E’, followed by ‘T’, ‘A’, ‘O’, ‘I’, ‘N’. This pattern was exploited by the character Sherlock Holmes to decode messages and is the basis of frequency analysis — one of the oldest techniques in cryptanalysis. Twitter/X allows 280 characters per tweet; SMS messages have a limit of 160 characters per segment.
