Overview
The Color Picker offers two ways to select colors: a native system color picker for choosing any color from your screen or design palette, and an image-based picker where you can upload a photo and click any pixel to extract its exact color. Results are shown in HEX, RGB, and HSL formats.
How to Use
Click the color input box to open your system’s native color picker dialog. Alternatively, upload an image and hover over it to see a magnified zoom lens for precision. Click any point on the image to extract the color at that exact pixel. The picked color updates the large swatch and all three format fields. Click any format row to copy it. A history of picked colors appears at the bottom.
Background & Context
Professional designers use color pickers constantly for maintaining brand consistency, creating accessible color palettes, and matching colors across different software. The eyedropper tool was popularized in early digital design software in the 1990s. WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) recommends a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 between text and background for readability.
